Banana cake with golden syrup icing (vegan)

Ingredients

Cake:
250g ripe bananas
3 tablespoons oil (eg rice bran oil)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla paste/extract
200g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Icing:
1 tablespoon golden syrup (or maple syrup)
1/2 cup icing sugar
1/2 tablespoon water.
a pinch of salt
Directions
Set oven to 180 C/350 F and line a 20cm springform caketin with baking paper.
In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until reasonably smooth, then whisk for a minute or so.
Whisk in the oil, sugar and vanilla, and then sift in the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Carefully fold together with a spatula, then pour into prepared tin.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, and allow to cool.
Icing:
Sift icing sugar. Mix all ingredients together well. If you need more water to improve the consistency, add more. Pour over the cake.
Serving Size: Makes 8 slices (10cm long and about 7.5cm wide at tin end of wedge)
