Sweet Cherry Hombow

Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    1 16 oz package hot roll mix OR 1 batch home-made/bread machine dinner roll dough (nutrition info based on home-made w/part whole wheat)

    1/2 lb ground turkey (can substitute ground pork, chicken)
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1 spray cooking spray
    1 cup chopped fresh sweet cherries
    1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts. (rinse to reduce sodium)
    2 tbs each reduced sodium soy sauce & brown sugar
    1/2 tsp ground ginger
    1 tsp cornstarch
    2 cloves garlic crushed or minced

Directions

Prepare dinner roll dough according to directions, will divide into 16 portions.

Brown turkey & onion with cooking spray until meat is done & onion soft. Stir in cherries, water chestnuts, soy sauce, brown sugar, corn starch, garlic. Heat through then cool to room temperature.

Flatten one portion of dough at a time into 4" round. Place 1 heaping tablespoon of filling in center of each. Gather edges & press to seal. Place sealed side down on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350*F 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Combine honey & lemon juice and brush on top of each hot roll.
