The secret to a good batch of Bootleg Root Beer is the fermentation of the yeast. Please follow the DIRECTIONS step by step to ensure your fermentation process is a success.

Large Funnel
Measuring Cups
Measuring Spoons
1- 2 Liter Plastic Bottle and Cap

Dear Fellow Bootleggers,
The secret to a good batch of Bootleg Root Beer is the fermentation of the yeast. Please follow the DIRECTIONS step by step to ensure your fermentation process is a success.

Simple Home Bootlegger's Kit:
Large Funnel
Measuring Cups
Measuring Spoons
1- 2 Liter Plastic Bottle and Cap


Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    Homemade Root Beer

    1 c Granulated Sugar
    1 T McCormick's Root Beer Extract
    1 Package of Fleischmannís Yeast
    Cold Water



    Root Beer Float

    6c Breyer's Vanilla Ice Cream -98% fat free
    12T Cool Whip Free
    6 Maraschino Cherry

    Place 1 serving of vanilla ice cream in a frosty mug or glass. Fill with Root Beer. Top with Cool Whip. Add a straw, a Maraschino Cherry and a pretty little paper umbrella if desired.



Directions

Please follow the DIRECTIONS step by step to ensure your fermentation process is a success.

1. Using a funnel, add 1 cup of sugar to a plastic bottle.
2. Add ľ teaspoon of Bakerís Yeast.
3. Put the cap on the bottle.
4. Shake well. Mix the yeast and sugar thoroughly.
5. Remove the cap and hold the bottle upright.
6. Slowly swirl the bottle until the mix is back to the bottom.
7. Using a funnel, add 1 tablespoon of root beer extract.
8. Using a funnel, fill the bottle half way up with cold water.
9. Slowly swirl the bottle, dissolving the sugar in the water.
10. Using a funnel, fill the bottle with water an inch from full.
11. Put cap back on. Shake gently until sugar is dissolved.
12. Store your root beer mix on a shelf at room temperature
13. Let it ferment for 3-4 days. Check the bottle regularly.
14. The yeast will expand in the bottle as it ferments.
15. When the bottle feels hard, it will be ready. YEAH!!
16. Refrigerate. Best to let it chill overnight.

Bootleg Root Beer Float
Freeze your Root Beer mugs or thick Soda Jerk glasses in the freezer until ready to use.

Place 1 serving of vanilla ice cream in the glass and fill with Root Beer. Top with Cool Whip. Add a straw, a Maraschino Cherry and a pretty little paper umbrella if desired..
