Whole Wheat Waffles

Introduction

A bit healthier, tasty and easy! A bit healthier, tasty and easy!
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    2 c whole wheat flour (stir before measuring
    2 tsp baking powder
    3/4 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/8 tsp ground ginger
    1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
    3 eggs separated
    1 3/4 c non-fat milk
    1/4 c canola oil

Directions

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and seasonings; stir to mix. Beat egg whites; set aside. Beat egg yolks, add milk and shortening. Add all at once to flour mixture and beat until dry ingredients are moistened.

Fold in egg whites, leaving little fluffs of them showing in batter. Pour into preheated waffle iron'; bake until steaming stops or signal light indicates waffle is baked
