Hamburger stew

Introduction

A great alternative to soup on a cold winter day- great for a slow cooker! A great alternative to soup on a cold winter day- great for a slow cooker!
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    16 oz Hamburger
    15 meduim baby carrots
    1/2 pound potatos
    1/4 cup salsa
    1/4 cup ketchup
    1 tbsp salt
    1 tbsp pepper
    1 tbsp brown sugar
    1 can tomato soup
    1 cup water
    1 small onion chopped
    1 clove garlic or 2 tbsp

Directions

brown onion, garlic and hamburger together on stove top. If using stove top for entire recipe, have large pot and once hamburger is browned add other ingredients and let simmer, gentle bubbling for an hour. ENJOY!

If you are using the slow cooker, brown hamburger, onion and garlic, then add other ingredients into the slow cooker and set on med for 4 to 6 hours, depending on your cooker.

Serving Size: makes 6 -1 1/2 cup servings or 8 -1 cup servings

  • Reminds me of something we would cook when camping in Scouts...think we called it HOBO stew or some other cutsie name...am going to make this swapping the soup out and using fresh tomatoes (since I have a TON on my hands at the moment). Will also be adding some cabbage....TY for the recipe! - 9/10/11
