2 onions, finely chopped
I level tbsp dried chilli flakes
400g can chopped tomatoes
freshly ground black pepper
9fl.oz/255ml beefstock made with Bovril
2 garlic cloves
500g extra lean minced beef
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
300g wholewheat pasta
fresh basil to garnish
If you have any wriggle room - a little parmesan cheese grated over before serving
Crush the garlic and mix it in a bowl with the beef, remaining onion, seasoning and the egg.
Shape the beef mixture into 20 balls and add to the tomato mixture. Cover and simmer for 20-25 mins stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile cook pasta.
To serve, divide the pasta into 4 bowls, pour over the meatballs and sauce and garnish with basil.
