~10~ Wine & Cheese Party- Shopping For Wine

Introduction

Whether you choose to have a more formal "Wine & Cheese Tasting Party" or a casual "Pot Luck Tasting ", you need to have some basic understanding about shopping for wine for a dinner party.

Shopping for wine

Purchase 4 to 5 different wines.
A 750-ml bottle of wine will yield about 6 glasses.
You can plan on 1-2 glasses of wine per person
Buy at least 3 bottles of each wine.

Chill sparkling wines overnight.
Chill white wines 2-3 hours before the party.
Chilling white wine too long will kill the flavor.

Chill red wines about 30 minutes prior to the party.
Red wines taste best at 55 degrees F, wine cellar temperature not room temperature. (cont...)
