Paula Deen's Three Chocolate Cookies (my way)

Submitted by: ASHMOMOF4

Introduction

These are the best chocolate chips ever! The only difference in her recipe and mine is that she uses 3 different kinds of chocolate and I only use semisweet. And that in place of almond brickle, I use Heath bits. These are the best chocolate chips ever! Ingredients

    1 c (2 sticks) butter, softened
    1/2 c vegetable shortening
    3/4 c sugar
    1 3/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
    3 large eggs
    1 tsp vanilla
    3 3/4 c flour
    2 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    19 oz chocolate chips
    1 c Heath bits

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
With an electric mixer, beat the butter and shortening at medium speed until creamy, gradually add sugars, beating until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well.
In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and Heath bits. Using a large melon baller, drop cookies on cookie sheet and cook for 9-11 minutes or until just slightly brown around the edges. Let cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet. Remove to wire racks to cool.
