Chia & Fig Energy Chews

Introduction

Great running fuel. I start off with 2 about 30 minutes before, and then mid-run I'll chew another one or two. Great running fuel. I start off with 2 about 30 minutes before, and then mid-run I'll chew another one or two.
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    Cherry Chia Chai Chews

    cup macadamia nuts
    cup dry black figs
    cup tart dried cherries
    2 Tb. chia seeds
    1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    1 teaspoon ground ginger
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    teaspoon celtic sea salt




Directions

1.Place nuts, dates and cherries in a food processor, pulse until well ground
2.Pulse in vanilla, ginger, cinnamon and salt
3.Remove mixture from food processor and use small scoop. form bars, and wrap in wax paper pieces.

Serving Size:12 individual chews

    What do you do with the chia seeds? I'm assuming put them in the processor in step 1 so they have a chance to get ground up, or maybe press bars into the seeds before wrapping?? I used to do something like that with ground flax seeds, but you don't say to use ground chia. - 3/2/13

  • I like the pecan pie energy bars better, but these are good - I just mixed the chia seeds up with everything else - 3/4/13
