Eva's Turkey Burgers
Submitted by: MRSESTEWARTNumber of Servings: 4
Ingredients
-
1 lb lean turkey meat
4 whole wheat burger buns
1 cup onions, slice into half-rings
1/2 cup bbq sauce
1 ripe avocado, sliced
1 ripe tomato, sliced
4 romaine lettuce leaves
salt & pepper to taste
Directions
To Form Patties:
Place turkey in a bowl with a little bit of water, salt & pepper. Portion out 4 patties and shape with hands.
Heat olive oil & butter spread in a medium non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions, dash of salt & pepper and saute until tender. Add bbq sauce, reduce heat and let simmer.
Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Place turkey patties in skillet and sear on both sides. Cook 5-10 minutes or until patties are cooked through and internal temp reaches 165 degrees F. (I like to add a little water to the pan after the sear so the burgers don't stick & the steam helps them cook). After patties are cooked, removed from heat and add slice of cheese on top of each. Place the lid from the pan back on and let the cheese melt.
To assemble
Place patties on 4 burger buns. Top with lettuce, tomato, sauted onion and bbq sauce mixture, and avocado.
Serving Size: Makes 4 4-oz Burgers
