Brussels Sprouts (Spicy)

Introduction

I created this spicy side dish as inspired by cooking with my Sri Lankan, Indian, and Nepali friends. If you're new to heat (cayenne or red pepper), I'd recommend just using pinch to start, you can always add more later. I created this spicy side dish as inspired by cooking with my Sri Lankan, Indian, and Nepali friends. Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    1/2 lb brussels sprouts, trimmed, washed, finely shredded
    1 tsp olive oil
    2 oz red onion, diced (54 grams)
    1 clove garlic
    1 tsp black mustard seeds
    3/4 tsp cumin seed
    1/2 tsp chili pepper powder

    1 tsp parmesian cheese (optional garnish)

Directions

1) In heated oil, add seeds until mustard seeds pop (1-2 minutes)
2) Add red onion, garlic, and chili pepper (3-4 minutes)
3) Add shredded brussel sprouts, stir frying continually with wooden paddles for 4 minutes.
4) Serve immediately.


Serving Size: Makes 2 1-cup servings
