Tiramisu a la Dawn

Submitted by: SISSYFEB48

Introduction

This was the best tiramisu I have ever eaten or made. The vote from all those who tried it was unanimous. Well worth every single calore...and not as bad as you might think. Much better than eating it out. Leftovers can be frozen. I amde my own ladyfingers as there were none available locally for some strange reason. They are not hard to do. Must refrigerate for 8 hours or so.....great to do a day ahead. This was the best tiramisu I have ever eaten or made. The vote from all those who tried it was unanimous. Ingredients

    LadyFinger Cookies, 32 ladyfinger (remove)
*Philadelphia Light cream cheese, 32 tbsp (remove)
Heavy Whipping Cream, 2 cup, fluid (yields 2 cups whipped) (remove)
*Kahlua Coffee Liquer, 8 oz (remove)
    Granulated Sugar, 6 tsp (remove)
    Egg Yolk, 5 large (remove)
    Granulated Sugar, .25 cup (remove)
Regular Coffee, 2 cup (8 fl oz) (remove)
*Daisy Light Sour Cream, 6 tbsp (remove)
    Unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

Use pan large enough to fit 16 ladyfingers in one single layer.
Make zabaglione by beating 5 egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar til very light in color and thickened in the top of a bouble boiler. Slowly add 1/2 cup kahlua, beating with mixer until it thickens again and holds a soft shape. Place in bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes to cool.
While this is cooling, whip 2 cups of cream with 2 TBS of sugar. Set aside.
Mix 2 cups of very strong coffee, (espresso like) that is lukewarm with 1/2 cup of kahlua. Place single layer of ladyfingers in pan. Using half the coffee mix, drizzle each cookie. They should be soaked, but not disintegrating.
In bowl mix two packages of cream cheese til light and fluffy, then add 1/3 cup sour cream, and 1 cup of the whipped cream.
(This is the replacement for mascarpone traditionally used)
Mix til well incorporated, then add the cooled zabaglione mix, carefully incorporating all it it together.
Now place 1/2 of this mixture on top of your ladyfinger layer. Lightly dust ust with cocoa powder using a sieve. Add the next layer of ladyfingers, the coffee mix, and the last of the cream mixture. Dust top with more cocoa powder, or can also add some shaved chocolate. Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate at least 4 hours or so. I really like overnight.
Enjoy! It is worth every second of your time, and is not that hard to do.
