Mock McDonald's Fruit and Maple Oatmeal

Introduction

Make your own filling fruit and maple oatmeal at home. you can reduce the calorie count by 60 if you use regular Splenda in place of he brown sugar blend OR cut out 40 calories by substituting Sugar Free Apple Butter or Sugar Free Pumpkin Butter (20 calories per serving) instead of the Splenda Brown Sugar for a nice Autumn twist. Ingredients

    2 cups water
    1 cup dry whole oats
    1 tbsp Bummel and Brown spread
    2 tbsp Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
    1 small apple, chopped
    1/4 cup sugar free pancake syrup, 35 calories per serving
    14 cup dried cranberries

Directions

Make the apple mixture ahead of time by chopping the apple as small as you like, then stirring in he cranberries and syrup. Chill until ready to use, up to three days.

To cook the oats, bring water to a boil then stir in oats. Reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes. Divide into two bowls and stir 1/2 tbsp Bummel and Brown and 1 tbsp Splenda brown sugar blend into each bowl of oatmeal. Top each bowl with half the apple mixture and enjoy!
