Turkey & Cabbage

Submitted by: MONIRAQ

Introduction

I tried to make the cabbage rolls one of my meal plans called for and decided I loved the taste but not the work that went into the meal. I decided to make my own version using similar ingredients but more to my liking. Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 lb.lean ground turkey
Small head of cabbage, cut into thin strips
    1t minced garlic
    1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup beef or chicken broth (I like the depth the beef broth adds to this recipe.)
    2T brown sugar
    Juice of 1 lemon

Directions

Spray deep sided non-stick skillet with non-stick spray.
Add ground turkey and cook until browned.
Remove ground turkey from skillet and add cabbage.
Brown slightly then add beef broth.
Put turkey back into the skillet and add tomato sauce.
Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Stir thoroughly and cook until cabbage is tender. If more broth is needed during cooking process add in 1/4 cup increments but don't forget to log it on your food log.
After cabbage is tender, add brown sugar. Stir and finish with lemon juice.
