Morrocan chickpea Chili

I use dried garbanzos they have less salt than the canned ones
It is faster if you use canned garbanzos apx 35 min. total

Ingredients

    2 cups dried chick peas
    (soaked in water overnignt and rinsed)
    1 cup chopped onion
    3/4 cup chopped celery
    3/4 cup chopped carrots
    2 tsp minced garlic (more if you like)
    2 tsp ground cumin
    2 tsp ground paprika powder
    1tsp ground ginger
    1/2 tsp turmeric
    1/2 tsp freshly ground black peppercorns
    1/4 tsp sea salt
    1/4 tsp cinnamon ground
    1/4 tst crushed red pepperfakes
    1.5 cups water
    2 cups no salt added crushed/chopped tomato
    (pomi brand is great)
    2 Tbsp fresh chopped cilantro
    1 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions

Rinse and cook chickpeas is water,until soft, (2 hrs.)drain.
Heat oil in panover med.heat add the onion,celery,carrot and garlic to pan,saute' for about 5 min.Stir in cumin and the next 7 ingrediences
Cookfor a minute while stirring ,add the water,tomato,chickpeas andtomatoes bring to a boil.Cover and reduce heat simmer for about 20 min.
Stir in cilantro and lemonjuice and serve.

Serving Size: makes 8 1.cup serv.very filling.
