Directions

Dice the onion and add half to the hamburger in skillet. Brown the hamburger with the onion. Next add the taxo sesoning according to package directions.

Cut the Velveeta into chunks so it melts faster. Place in crock-pot. Add the remaining raw onion. Pour in the Rotel Tomatoes. Dice the jalapenos and toss them in. Let the cheese melt slowly. Add in the taco meat. Once the cheese has completely melted, you can add mildd if you like it thinner (We used HEB cheese and didn't need the milk). Once it's melted, add aaout 1/4 cup chopped cilantro.

To servie it like Torchy's Tacos, put a scoop of guacamole in individual bowls, and then pour con queso over htat. Garnish with fresh cilantro, grated cotija cheese and a drizzle of bottled chipolte sauce. Serve with Chips

Note: neither chips nor guacamole are counted in the above nutritional analysis. You will need to add them as separate items when you are tracking.

  • If you are trying this recipe in hopes it will taste like Torchy's Tacos queso, you will be extremely disappointed. It tastes NOTHING like it. We followed this recipe to the letter, then called Torchy's and they confirmed their queso doesn't have meat. This is average queso if you like Velveeta. - 4/6/14
