Homemade Greek Yogurt

Submitted by: DORIGURL

Introduction

Make your own Greek yogurt at home! Simple and healthy! Add only what you want! Make your own Greek yogurt at home! Simple and healthy! Add only what you want!
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    2 quarts skim milk
    2c non-fat dry milk
1/2c plain Greek yogurt, for a starter

Directions

Add the milk and dry milk to a pot. Heat on Med heat until it reaches 180 degrees. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't boil!

Once at 180, hold it around that temp for 13-15 minutes.

Remove from heat and cool to 110 degrees. (I pour mine through a mesh filter into a stainless bowl that I have sitting in water in the sink...just to speak up the cooling of process and remove any dry milk lumps that didn't dissolve)

Once at 110 degrees, use a whisk to mix in your 1/2 of Greek yogurt starter. Pour into container and place in a warm area for 12-15 hours. (I use my oven and just turn the light on for the whole time. the light puts out enough heat to keep my oven around 105-110 degrees...perfect for yogurt!)

Chill and enjoy!
