Introduction

Ingredients

    1 lb 90% lean Ground Beef
    2 onions, chopped
    1 head of garlic, chopped
    3-28 oz cans crushed tomatoes
    2-15 oz cans black beans, no salt added
    1 tbsp olive oil
    1/4 c chili powder
    1 tbsp ground corriander
    2 tbsp ground cumin
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 tbsp dried oregano
    2 tsp chipotle chile powder
    1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

Sweat onions and garlic in olive oil until tender. Add beef, cook until browned. Drain excess fat from the pan. Add chili powder, corriander, cumin, cinnamon, oregano, chipotle powder and cocoa powder. Cook about 45 seconds or until spices become fragrant. Add tomatoes (undrained) and black beans (drained and rinsed). Stir well to combine spice/meat mixture with the tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered for about 90 minutes.

Serving Size: Makes 8 2-cup servings
