Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp

Ingredients

    16 medium apples - peeled, cored, sliced and quartered
    1/4 cup unbleached white flour
    1 t. cinnamon (as needed)
    1 T. cold butter, cut into small pieces.
    TOPPING:
    1 cup granulated sugar
    3/4 cup unbleached white flour
    1/2 t. cinnamon
    1/2 t. salt
    1/4 lb (1 stick) cold butter cut into pieces

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Arrange apples in 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle apples with the flour and cinnamon to taste. Dot with small pieces of butter. In mixing bowl, combined the sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon. Using a pastry blender, work cold butter pieces into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Pour topping over the apples into the corners of the baking dish. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the top is golden and apples are bubbly. Serve.
