Introduction

Flavorful refried beans seasoned with garlic, chile peppers, and cumin are simple to make when cooked in a slow cooker. Flavorful refried beans seasoned with garlic, chile peppers, and cumin are simple to make when cooked in a slow cooker.
Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    2 onion peeled and halved
    5.25 cups dry pinto beans rinsed
    8 oz can chile peppers
    3.5 tbsp minced garlic
    8 tsp kosher salt
    3 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp of ground cumin
    16 cups of water

Directions

Place the onion, rinsed beans, chiles, garlic, salt, pepper, cumin and water in to a slow cooker. Stir. Cook on high for 8 hours. Once the beans have cooked, strain them and reserve the liquid. Mash the beans with a potato masher adding the reserved water as needed to attain desired consistency.

Serving Size: 20 1/2 cup servings
