Pineapple Orange FluffSubmitted by: HMATTAX
IntroductionThe basic midwestern dessert, made with regular jello, but light cool whip and fat free cottage cheese The basic midwestern dessert, made with regular jello, but light cool whip and fat free cottage cheese
1 3 oz. box Orange flavored gelatin mix
32 oz. fat free cottage cheese
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained
1 15 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained
1 8 oz. tub cool whip lite
This can be further lightened (though I am not sure on calorie specifics) by using sugar free gelatin mix and fat free cool whip. I can't tolerate most fake sugars so I use this as a compromise!
Serving Size: makes 24 1/2-cup servings
Number of Servings: 24

I'd like to try this but I am not sure if the jello should be prepared or if the powder is just mixed with the cottage cheese? - 11/23/11

Just sprinkle in the powder--it is used mostly for flavor, but after chilling it also helps the salad firm up. No need for water!
