Homemade Chili
Submitted by: MOMOFONE87Introduction
My family loves this chili. It is thick and chunky and goes great with corn bread or french fries or even on a hamburger. My family loves this chili. It is thick and chunky and goes great with corn bread or french fries or even on a hamburger.Number of Servings: 21
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
1 lb dried pinto beans
2 fresh roma tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
brown sugar
garlic(cloves or dried)
1 pkg chili powder
water as needed
Tips
It is easier to start the night before you plan to make this so you can soak the beans over night. I rinse the ground beef to eliminate some of the extra fat.
Directions
Soak beans over night. Drain and add to slow cooker. Brown up the ground beef, drain and rinse. Add the tomato paste. Chop the tomatoes and add. Add brown sugar, garlic, and chili powder. Add 2 cup of water and mix thoroughly. Add more water as needed. Cook on low for 8 hours if you start in the morning or high on 4 hours if you start later.
