Apple Slices

Ingredients

    Crust:
    2 c. All purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
    1/2 tsp. Salt
    3/4 c. Shortening
    1 tsp. Lemon Juice
    2 lg. Egg Yolks
    1/2 c. Water

    Filling:
    3 lb. Apples Peeled and sliced thin
    1/2 c. Water
    1 C. Splenda
    1/4 c. Sugar
    1/4 tsp. Salt
    2 T. Cornstarch
    1 tsp. Cinnamon
    1/4 c. Cold water

Directions

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Peel, core and slice apples and put in pan. Add cinnamon, 1/2c. water sugars and salt. Bring to a boil reduce heat and thicken with cornstarch and water mixture. Set asided to make crust.
Sift flour salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Mix egg yolks lemon juice and water and then add to the flour mixture and blend. seperate into two halves. and roll out on floured board big enough to cover bottom and up the sides of a 9 x 13 inch pan. Add filling and roll out remaining dough and cover the filling to the edges. Bake for 20 minutes and then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for another 30 mintues until nice and brown. Mix powdered sugar with a little water and vanilla to a not too thin consisitency and drizzle over hot dish. I spread the icing out to cover. Let cool and serve.
