3/4 lb. 90-95% lean ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped green pepper
3 cloves minced garlic
1-16 oz. can of drained, rinsed kidney beans
1-16 oz. can NO ADDED SALT tomatoes
1-8 oz. can NO ADDED SALT tomato sauce
1/2 tsp. dried basil
3 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1. If using extremely lean beef, you may need to add extra water.
2. When serving, have small bowls with salsa, jalapeno peppers, lowfat shredded cheeses, chopped onions, and fat free sour cream available as toppings. (Recipe calculations does not include these toppings.)
2. Remove excess grease.
3. Stir in remaining ingredients and cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
