Swedish Nuts

Submitted by: EUDORAWA

Number of Servings: 40

Ingredients

    2 cups slivered almonds
    2 cups pecan halves
    1 cup walnut halves
    1 C sugar
    2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    6 T Butter

Tips

You may use any assortment of nut meats you wish, don't use too many salted ones, though. This really tastes better with butter not margarine. If you use margarine you will need 8 Tablespoons rather than 6.

Directions

Toast nuts in 325 oven until lightly brown on jelly roll pan (cookie sheet with deep sides). Fold sugar and dash of salt into stiffly beaten egg whites. Fold toasted nuts into meringue. Melt butter in Jelly roll pan. Spread nut mixture over butter. Bake in 325 oven about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes (turn nuts over with pancake turner) until all nuts are coated with a brown covering and no butter remains in pan. Cool on paper towel.
