Trader Joe's Chili Pie

Submitted by: MANDA2506

Introduction

I tried this at trader joe's once and was impressed! It is very good. For my diet it is high in calories but I will have a square for a "cheat meal." It satifies the craving for chili and cornbread without going over the top. You can take only 1/2 cup of cheese for lesser fat and calories. This is perfect for a cold day! If anybody figures out how to make a lighter version of this- please let me know! I tried this at trader joe's once and was impressed! It is very good. Ingredients

2 Cans of Trader Joe's Turkey Chili
1 Box of Trader Joe's Corn Bread Mix
1/2- 1 cup of Kraft reduced fat cheddar cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare corn bread mix according to box directions. Lightly coat a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray and spread one half of the cornbread mix to cover bottom of baking dish. Top with cheese. Pour 2 cans of chili over the cornbread mix. Top with remaining cornbread mix. Bake for 45 minutes or until cornbread is thoroughly cooked. Top with cheese or sour cream if desired (calories will need to be adjusted for this) ( I don't add more cheese).

Serving Size: Cut in 8 equal squares

  • Super easy and delicious. TJ's canned chili is excellent...recognizable pieces of real meat and a good mix of beans and veges. Both my 15 yr. old and my husband loved this. - 11/16/12
