I thought this soup was an excellent comfort food. I would make this again. The only changes I would make the next time would be to add some salt, pepper, other seasonings. A small salad with this soup made an easy, very good and very filling meal. - 6/23/11

Thank you Honey! I had very few things in my fridge and pantry at the time and was hungry so I figured I would try something different with what I had on hand. The only seasonings I use is Mrs. Dash.

This soup was so delicious, one of the best soup I ever made. I did have to add a lot of water tho as I used regular long grain brown rice - 1/11/12

I added a little bit of curry and poultry seasoning because I was out of thyme. I put the carrots in just at the last and they were still crunchy, which is how we like them. Very tasty! - 9/11/10

That soup was way better than I thought. I did however use chicken that was left over from grilling, but it was still great! - 4/24/07

Good, but it needs some spice. I added bay leaf, thyme, and a serrano pepper to give it some extra kick. - 3/25/13

  • Made this when poorly, really hit the spot! Nearly substituted pasta for the rice but so glad I didn't - rice gives it a satisfying texture. - 4/30/14

  • Made this last night and it was great. Added about 5 cloves of garlic (love garlic!) and omitted the celery. It was pretty tastey. I will definitely make this again. - 5/23/10

  • Will use this soup as a base from now on. Added celery, onions, bay leaf, carrots, leftover 1.5 baked potato, cumin, curry and sage this time. Don't have instant brown rice, but used brown 20min basmati rice... allowed extra simmering time. Wonderful flavour! - 5/9/10

  • This was bland. Add fresh parsley, a bay leaf, poultry seasoning and freshly ground black pepper for more flavor. This is a family favorite. - 4/19/10

  • I made this, very good. I did mine in the crock pot, I used uncle Ben's 10 minute rice, which I cooked and added at the last minute because I didn't know when to add it. I cooked it with the broth from my crock. - 1/28/08
