Mabo Tofu with lean ground turkeySubmitted by: DSWHITE
IntroductionThis dish is typically made with ground pork however, for a healthier option it also tastes great with turkey and that's how I usually make it. This dish is typically made with ground pork however, for a healthier option it also tastes great with turkey and that's how I usually make it.
1 pound of lean ground turkey ( 93% lean)
1 block of medium firm tofu cut into 1/2" squares
3 tbsp of Asian Gourmet Authentic Black Bean Sauce
2 tbsp of cornstarch
2 tbsp of water
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp grated fresh ginger
2 tsp chopped garlic
1/4 cup of chopped scallions or substitute with dry scallions
dash of salt
hot pepper flakes
The dish is best served on top of white rice, I serve it with Japanese rice - place rice in a bowl and top with the Mabo Tofu mixture. You can sprinkle some scallions on top as well.
You can adjust the pepper flakes, soy sauce and black bean sauce to your own preferences. We like things a little spicy in our house however, if you prefer a milder dish, you can skip the pepper flakes altogether.
Serving Size: Makes 4 larger size portions or 5-6 smaller portions
