Whole Grain Cereal

Introduction

Bulk cereal Bulk cereal
Number of Servings: 72

Ingredients

    Buy these in bulk if available; prepackaged are fine, but more expensive.

    10 cups thick oats
    2 cups Bulgar
    2 cups Flax meal (ground)
    2 cups Brown long rice
    2 cups sunflower seed, hulled and unsalted
    2 cups pearled barley
    2 cups steel cut oats
    1 3/4 to 2 cups almond slivers

    These cereals may be freely substituted for each other with very little change in nutritional value.

Tips

If you insist, you may spoil this nutritious breakfast by adding sugar and/or fruit.


Directions

Per serving: 1/3 cup dry cereal & 1 cup water
Stove top: simmer in saucepan, uncovered, until cereal is tender
Microwave: cook at 50% power about 12 minutes. Will vary depending upon unit power


Serving Size: Makes 70 servings -- 1/3 cup before cooking
