Spinach and Meat Spaghetti
Submitted by: BRIANASTEELMANIntroduction
I am trying to add vegetables to my diet and this is the stuff I had on hand. It was delicious. Some of my measurements may be off. I'm adding it on here because my skinny husband had 2 helpings and my picky 3 year old ate almost everything. Its worth trying to add some veggies in. =D I am trying to add vegetables to my diet and this is the stuff I had on hand. It was delicious. Some of my measurements may be off. Ingredients
-
Whole wheat pasta- half a box ( I used Barilla)
1 lb ground lean turkey
Spinach, 10 oz (frozen)
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 jar of tomato sauce (I used Ragu)
4 tbls of light sour cream
Dried or fresh onions to saute with meat
Oregano
Barley
Garlic powder
pepper
Cheese-optional (I used cheddar, but Parmesan would probably be better)
Tips
Directions
1. Boil the pasta (drain when done)
2. Cook the ground turkey. Towards the end put some dried onions in (or fresh if you have one) to add flavor. (Drain the meat)
3. Defrost Spinach
4. Mix the cooked ground turkey with spaghetti sauce, sour cream, spinach, and tomatoes. Heat over the stove top on medium heat.
5. Add the spices...Oregano, barley, garlic powder, and pepper. These are the spices I am most comfortable with so that is what I use with pretty much everything.
5. Put sauce over noodles. Add some cheese on top if you would like.
Serving Size: Makes about 8 servings
Number of Servings: 8
