Baked Granny Smith

Submitted by: HAWKTHREE

Introduction

The granny smith apples are tart and go well with the sweetness of brown sugar and cinnamon. Add nutmeg, walnuts, or cranberries to change up the flavor. If your diet allows, a spritz of cream is lovely. The granny smith apples are tart and go well with the sweetness of brown sugar and cinnamon. Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    2 Granny smith apples
    2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar packed
    1˝ teaspoons ground Cinnamon
Optional: nutmeg, cardamom, lemon juice, mace

Tips

Our favorite additions: rinse 1-2 Tablespoons dried cranberries to remove added sugar, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts. The walnuts add a good crunch; the cranberries more tart.
For really really special occasions, we use whipped cream on top.

Directions

Preheat oven to 375
Use an oven safe dish and if it doesn't have a lid, cover with aluminum foil.
Core and slice the apples. About 8 slices per apple works well.
Mix the cinnamon and brown sugar.
Alternate layers of apple slices and cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Cover and bake for 40 minutes.
Let cool a bit before serving.

Serving Size: makes 2 servings the size of an apple
