Hermit's Chili

Introduction

Ingredients

    20 oz 93/7 ground turkey
    1 c. chopped onion ( 1/2 large)
    1 tsp minced garlic
    28 oz can Cento Crushed Tomatoes ( they are low sodium)
    2-15 oz can no salt added red kidney beans
    15 oz can pumpkin puree
    2 tsp sodium free beef bouillion
    2.5 c water
    2 medium zucchini chopped (peeled optional)
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1 tsp chili powder
    1/2 tsp cumin
    1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    1.5 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Tips

you may use 1/2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate instead of cocoa, but it will increase calories and fat.


Directions

brown meat and onions. add garlic and cook for one minute or until fragrant. add remaining ingredients, simmer and stir occasionally for 15-30 minutes until zucchini is done enough for you. (Serve with reduced fat 2% cheddar or jack cheese on top or light sour cream. cornbread on the side. Not incl in nutritional calculations.)
