whole wheat bread/rolls

Ingredients

    1/2 cup olive oil
    1/2 cup honey
    2 Tablespoons active dry yeast
    5 cups hot water
    (not so hot that you can't still keep your finger in it)
    1 Tablespoon of sea salt
    11 cups whole wheat flour

Tips

1. Measure the oil first then measure the honey in the same cup and it will slip right out
2. You can make this in a bread mixer
3. You can substitute molasses for the honey
4. rolls are 124 cal, 6 loaf size (10 slices/loaf) 99 cal.


Directions

1. in large bowl mix oil, honey, yeast, and water
( let the yeast grow for about 10 minutes)
2. stir in five cups of whole wheat flour
3. add the sea salt stir
4. stir in 3- 4 more cups of whole wheat flour
5. in the same bowl knead in the remaining flour
1/2 cup at a time until soft but not sticky
(mixing a kneading time about 20 minutes)
6. cover with a plastic wrap and let it rise until double
(about 1 hour)
7. form into 2 dozen rolls bake in greased muffin tins
bake at 350F for 15 minutes
or
5 greased loaf pans ( 8 1/2" X 4 1/2" X 2 1/2" )
bake at 350F for 30 minutes
or
6 greased aluminum foil loaf pans
bake at 350F for 30 minutes


Serving Size: makes 5-6 small loaves or 2 dozen rolls
