IntroductionThese are a chewy, yet crunchy, bar cookie that my mom always made at Christmas time. These are a chewy, yet crunchy, bar cookie that my mom always made at Christmas time.
1 3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg, separated
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, or preferred nuts
If you want your cookies to be chewy, remove from oven a few minutes short of listed time.
Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour, 10 minutes until golden brown. Immediately cut into 48 - 50 bars. Remove from pan to cool on wire racks. Store in tightly covered container.
