Introduction

This recipe is great to make ahead and put in the crockpot until you are ready to eat. Great hit for parties, carry-in dinners and even with nacho chips. Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    ground beef, lean - 2lb.
    onion, 1c. finely chopped
    green or red pepper, 1c. chopped
    brown surgar, 1/4c.
    tomato sauce, 1c.
    Ketchup, 1/4c.
    mustard, 2 tablespoons

Tips

I add ground pepper, but no salt. If you like, a tablespoon or two of soy sauce adds a nice flavor, but will increase the sodium content. The nutrition label is based on regular tomato sauce, but I prefer no salt added tomato sauce. You will not miss the salt.


Directions

Put hamburger in skillet and start heating then add onions and green peppers. Brown. Remove fat and allow meat to cook until dry and well done. Stir in brown sugar and heat through. Next add the ketchup and mustard. Heat well. Finally stir in the tomato sauce. Heat thoroughly.

Serving Size: Makes about 12 1/3c. sandwiches
