Black 'N' White Brownies

Ingredients

    3/4 C. Whole Wheat Flour
    1 Tbsp. Flax Seed Meal
    1 Tbsp. Wheat Germ
    1/2 C. Splenda
    1/4 tsp. Baking Powder
    1/4 tsp. Salt
    1 C. Quick-Cooking Oats
    1 C. Unsweetened Flaked Coconut
    1/3 C. Smart Balance Light Margarine, Melted
    1/3 C. Unsweetened Applesauce
    2 Tbsp. Skim Milk

    CHOCOLATE LAYER:
    1/3 C. Smart Balance Light Margarine
    1 (1 ounce) Square Unsweetened Chocolate
    1/2 C. Egg Substitute
    1 C. Packed Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
    2 Tbsp. Skim Milk
    1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
    3/4 C. Whole Wheat Flour
    1 Tbsp. Flax Seed Meal
    1 Tbsp. Wheat Germ
    1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
    1/4 tsp. Salt
    1/2 C. Chopped Walnuts

    FROSTING:
    4 oz. Fat Free Cream Cheese, Softened
    1/4 C. Smart Balance Light Margarine, Softened
    1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
    2 1/4 C. Confectioners' Sugar
    1/4 C. Chopped Walnuts

Directions

1. In a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. Stir in oats & coconut. Add margarine, applesauce, & milk; mix well. Press into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 min. Remove from the oven. Reduce heat to 325 degrees F.
2. In a saucepan, melt the margarine & chocolate; cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg substitute, brown sugar, milk, & vanilla; mix well. Add chocolate mixture; mix well. Combine the flour, flax seed, wheat germ, baking powder, & salt; add to chocolate mixture & mix well. Stir in walnuts. Spread evenly over crust. Bake at 325 degrees F for 25-30 min. or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs (do not overbake). Cool on a wire rack.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine the first 4 frosting ingredients until smooth & creamy. Spread over bars. Sprinkle with walnuts. Store in the refrigerator.
