Chicken and Dumplings

Introduction

Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    1 whole chicken
    1/2 cup butter
    1 lb carrots
    1 bunch of celery
    1 whole chicken
    1 package Mary Hill Dumplings


    1 tbsp Garlic
    1 tbsp Pepper
    1 tbsp Salt
    1 tbsp Thyme
    2 tbsp Parsley

    At LEAST a tablespoon of each seasoning, although you may want to add more/less to taste.

Tips

Instead of pre-packaged Mary Hill dumplings, you can also cut thin flour tortillas into 1 inch strips and it tastes just as good!

Directions

Add broth, salt, pepper, and garlic to a large pot, add water until chicken is completely covered. Then, add a couple more cups of water to give it some more juice!

Boil until chicken is thoroughly cooked (2-3 hours). Remove chicken, let cool.

Chop celery & carrots into bite-size pieces, add to broth. Add thyme, parsley, butter, & soup.

Debone and remove skin from chicken. Tear chicken into small pieces, then put back in the pot. Discard bones and skin. Bring back to a boil.

Once boiling, add dumplings. Lower heat, and let simmer until dumplings are thoroughly cooked (30-35 minutes).

Enjoy! Total cook time is approximately 4 hours. Longer is better! Can also be done effectively in the crock pot without altering recipe.
