Ingredients

    3/4 cups all-purpose flour (King Arthur Organic WW)
    1/2 cup Hershey Special Dark Cocoa Powder
    1/4 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup butter
    1 cup granulated sugar (I used coconut palm sugar)
    2 large eggs
    1 cup Chips

Tips

Making this as is, it tends to be a little dry so added some unsweetened applesauce to add moisture.
If you use butter flavored shortening instead of butter, this recipe is "desert safe" to send to loved ones.


Directions

PREHEAT oven to 350 F. Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

COMBINE flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in small bowl. Beat shortening, sugar and eggs in large mixer bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels. Pour into prepared baking pan.

BAKE for 25 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares.
