Chicken & Broth:
1 Fryer Chicken
4-6 C. of water
Dumplings:
1/2 C. Broth
3 Tbsp. Butter
1/4 Tsp. Salt
1/2 C. flour
Tips
Directions
Put Chicken in crock pot with 4-6 cups of water (just depends on preference). Cook for 8 hours on low.
When crockpot is done, take out chicken and get meat off of the bones. (Renders approximately 5 cups of chicken depending on the size of your bird). Strain out chicken broth into a pot, and let heat up on oven.
In a saucepan, add 1/2 cup of broth, then 3Tbsp. butter, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Bring to a boil, and add the 1/2 C. flour. Stir well, and it should form into a ball.
Transfer dough ball into a bowl, use the mixer to break it up, and add the 1st egg. When that is well incorporated, add the second. It should look like a cake batter consistency when it is ready. Put the batter into a large freezer bag, and cut the bottom corner for piping batter. Pipe batter into broth, cutting off 1" sections. Once all the batter is in, place the lid on the pot and cook for 8-10 minutes.
Assembly: place chicken meat in bowl, pour broth and dumplings over top.
