My husband always turns his nose up to chuck roast and says its too chewy or too something. I tried this recipe because it sounded good. He came in, took a plate, I was waiting for him to complain when he turned around and said now this is good, keep this recipe. That was a true compliment. - 7/20/08

  • This will be my first time ever using a slow cooker & making a roast for that matter. I just realized I only have the regular hidden valley ranch not buttermilk & wondering if it will taste just as good or should I make it another day when I have the exact ingredients? Could anyone help?? Thank You - 10/12/11

  • I left out the 2 packets of gravy mix (I didn't have any in the house). I added a few red potatoes, baby carrots and mushrooms. Some of the potatoes and carrots didn't cook very well but other than that it came out great. It was very flavorful! - 2/2/11

  • Cooked this last week and it's heavenly. I added baby carrots and potato medley from Trader Joe's. I raved about it so much that at least 3 others have cooked it also! - 1/25/11

  • Absolutely delicious! My whole family loved it. I am concerned about the fat grams though, is 4.3 g of fat really accurate for 4 oz. of chuck roast? - 4/26/10

I put all the pieces into spark correctly and accurately and just double checked - so yes I believe so - I think it is the bulk is protein and not the fatty mean part!

  • Super! My spouse made it and it was great! However, I believe the nutrition info on the page is wrong. Click on View Nutritional Breakdown by Ingredient & you will see that just the 4 oz (.26 lb) of Beef chuck roast alone is 349 calories for a total of 363 calories. - 4/14/10

  • I made this yesterday and it was SO good! Tender and flavorful...I cooked mine in the oven, though. 4 hours at 350. I used the other half of the ranch dressing packet in my mashed potatoes. I'll make this again! - 10/19/09
