Low Cal Nutella-like spread (from Chocolate Covered Katie recipe)



Introduction

Low calorie version. Low calorie version.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 cup hazelnuts (I bought blanched, already skinned)
    1/4 cup Splenda
    1/8 tsp salt
    1/4 cup fat free Milk
    2 tablespoon Hershey's Cocoa Powder (unsweetened)
    3/4 tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract

Directions

Roast 1 cup of hazelnuts: I did by placing on 4inch rack of NuWave oven on HI for 5 minutes.

Cream the hazelnuts in a food processor. I did by mixing in my Magic Bullet mixer by pulsing until pulverized, looked like dry peanut butter.

Then add in all other ingredients, and mix until well blended. Website discusses option of adding some oil for increasing smoothness to mimic store-bought Nutella, but I didn't add it because kept it low calorie. Taste is great, just a little grainier texture than store-bought (would be smoother I bet if used in a real food processor).

Serving Size: Makes ~1 cup of spread
