Ingredients

    Steel Cut Oats, dry, 1.5 cup
    Brown Sugar, 9 tsp unpacked
    Maple Syrup, .33 cup
    Cinnamon, ground, 2 tbsp
    Allspice, .5 tbsp (remove)
    Apples, fresh, 2 large (3-1/4" dia) (approx 2 per lb
    Applesauce, unsweetened, .5 cup
    4.5 cups water

Tips

wait til the oatmeal stops boiling up and starts boiling down - at a simmer before adding maple syrup and cinnamon.. If you like crunchier apples, add these near the end, too. Other nuts or fruit or granola can be added. Serve with milk.


Directions

In large pot, measure. 4.5 cups water and 1.5 cups steel cup oats. Bring to boil. Add in chopped apples, applesauce, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, allspice. Cook til all water is absorbed,
