Homemade Granola

Submitted by: STREMMY

Introduction

Experimented to make this slightly lower in fat than other options, still keeps the crunchiness expected with granola. Experimented to make this slightly lower in fat than other options, still keeps the crunchiness expected with granola.
Number of Servings: 44

Ingredients

4.5 cup oats (steel cut or whole flake)
    .25 cup oat bran
    .5 cup hulled sunflower seeds
1 cup sliced almonds or chopped
    .5 cup cashews, chopped
    .5 cup pumpkin seeds
    1.0 cup pecans, chopped
    .5 cup walnuts, chopped
    2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
    .5 cup unsweetened applesauce
    .5 cup maple syrup
    2 Tbsp molasss

Tips

Great sprinkled on top of yogurt and fresh fruit.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F
Mix together dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In a small bowl, stir together wet ingredients. Pour over dry ingredients and mix together well.
Layer a baking sheet (two if they're small) with foil, and spray with cooking spray. Spread out the mixture over the pan, not more than 1/2" thick.
Bake 15-25 min, stirring every couple of minutes. Watch carefully so it doesn't burn.
Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack. Let cool completely - about 2 hours, stirring every once in awhile.
Keeps about 3 weeks in an airtight container.

Serving Size: 1/4 cup (makes about 11 cups total)
