Sue's Lite Lemon Turkey Burgers

Submitted by: MUSIC_MUTT

Introduction

Sometimes Sue has moistened these w/ chicken broth, but we prefer the taste with lemon juice. The garlic is optional. If left out, leave out the canola oil. Ingredients

38 ounces of 93% lean ground turkey
    1/4 c seasoned bread crumbs
    1 extra large fresh egg
1 fluid ounce of lemon juice
    salt to taste (1/2 tsp)
    pepper to taste (1/3 tsp)
    3 tbsp raw onion chopped
1 clove garlic finely minced (optional)
    2 tsp canola oil (optional)

Tips

Don't saute garlic or onion in oil and add more fat. As is, 94 of the 218 calories come from fat. These could be a lot lighter in fat, but they're tasty. Consider making it lighter w/ 97%FF ground turkey and a non-fat substitue, like 1/4 apple sauce. We enjoyed them with plenty of tossed salad and a ear of fresh corn on the side.

Directions

These burgers will be grilled which very lightly cooks the chopped onion and finely minced garlic. If the garlic's too strong, skip it. Mix all the ingredients. Form eight patties and grill them until done through.

Serving Size: makes 8 burgers, about 5 to 5.5 oz. each

Number of Servings: 8
