Ingredients
-
Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
Garlic, 2 cloves minced
Carrots, raw, 1 large (7-1/4" to 8-1/2" long) Chopped
Water, tap, 6 cup (8 fl oz)
Split Peas, 453.5 grams (1lb bag)
Olive Oil, 1tsp
Bay Leaf
Salt and Pepper to taste
Tips
For a smokier taste, you can add bacon (approximately 2 slices). Also, I don't add salt and pepper until I'm ready to eat it so it's up to the individual.
Directions
Put olive oil into pot and warm. Add onions, garlic and carrots. Allow onions and thyme to soften and become fragrant. Add split peas and water. Bring to a boil, turn flame down to low and allow to cook for approximately 2 hours, sirring occassionally.
At the end of cooking, remove bay leaf and throw away.
