Whole Wheat Apple Crisp

Ingredients

    8 med granny smith apples, peeled & sliced
    2 cups oatmeal
    1 c whole wheat flour
    1 cup honey
    1 T cinnamon
    1/2 c butter
    1 cup walnuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Mix honey & cinnamon together
In a large bowl combine apples with 1/2 honey mixture
Place apples in 9 x 13 pan
In bowl combine oatmeal, flour, butter & balance of honey, mix and put on top of apples

Mix 2 cups low fat or fat free yogurt with 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup for topping if desired.

    Delicious! (But certainly not for folks expecting the typical sweet kind of apple crisp.) I've been calling this the "Mother Earth Apple Crisp" - my hippie, vegan, all-round-good-eatin' husband loves it. In fact, we both ate it cold for breakfast! Thx for a great recipe, DawnMI! - 10/22/09
