Introduction

This is my husband's favorite, served with applesauce on the side This is my husband's favorite, served with applesauce on the side
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    20 oz. dry elbow macaroni
    2 lbs. lean ground beef
    1 large onion, chopped
2 cans whole kernel corn, drained
    2-1/2 c ketchup
    2 T Worcestershire
    1/4 c brown sugar
    3 t paprika
    2 t garlic powder
    1 t dry mustard
    dash of cayenne pepper

Directions

Drop macaroni into a large pot of boiling water. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. While macaroni is cooking, brown ground beef and onion in a large skillet; cook until well done and juices dry up. (May add seasoning during cooking, if desired). Remove from heat. When macaroni reaches desired tenderness, remove from heat and drain. Return the macaroni to the pot, then add the ground beef and onion mixture and corn. Mix thoroughly. Add ketchup, Worcestershire, sugar and spices and stir until covered evenly. (May add water to achieve a moister consistency if desired.) Makes approximately 12 servings (serving size 12 oz. or about 1-1/2 cups). Tastes great as leftovers and also freezes well.

Very good! I used real garlic instead of powder. I ran out of ketchup so only used half and substituted spaghetti sauce for the rest, but I think it would've been overpowering with the full dose of ketchup. My picky husband loved it. - 7/25/08

This is super tasty. I agree that the ketchup flavor could be a little much, but that is easy to fix if you don't care for it. We halved the recipe and it was still tons! Very fulling & yummy. - 8/3/08

  • This Goulash was just awful. The ketchup was way over powering. When it was done I had to fix it by watering it down and also adding tomato sauce into it to cover up the ketchup taste and smell. If I ever make it again it will be without the ketchup and substituted with tomato sauce. - 9/30/14

  • When I go to create a recipe make over I noticed that the measurements on the beef and the ketchup are incorrect. When originally calculated it has 28 ounces of meat. 2 lbs would actually be 32 ounces. The ketchup also shows 16 tablespoons which is only 1 cup. For 2.5 cups it should actually be 40T - 4/17/14

  • I thought it was good, but husband didn't care for it. Probably more ketchup than was really needed. Note: My little dog loves it! - 3/6/12

  • GREAT! The spices were wonderful!! I did change some things. Instead of ketchup I used a 28oz can of crushed tomatoes, left out the corn, and added a bell pepper. Only used 3/4 lb lean ground beef, 2 tsp. brown sugar and 8 oz elbow macaroni. - 2/9/11

  • Ok, I made 16oz of shell pasta because I couldn't find 20oz in my pantry, I substituted a can of diced tomatoes for the ketchup, didn't have any brown sugar and doctored it up with my Spice House creole seasoning and some ground mustard and this is AWESOME!! - 1/5/10

  • I didn't make this correctly - came back to read the recipe and laughed. Browned beef, celery and onions, added the macaroni and used tomatoe juice and worchester, S&P. Really good and nothing like the recipe. But delicious! - 12/2/09
