Introduction

Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 lb italian sausage
    1 cup chopped onion
    3 cloves garlic (minced)
    1 1/2 cup water
    15 oz tomato sauce
    1 tsp onion powder
    1 tbsp dried parsley flakes
    1 tsp dried oregano
    6-7 oz broken up whole wheat lasagna noodles
    1 cup low fat cottage cheese
    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
    Dash of basil and Pepper (optional)
    1 egg

Tips

If using ground beef, 1/4 - 1/2 tsp salt may need to be added. Season to taste.


Directions

In a large skillet, brown sausage with onion and garlic. Drain.
In medium mixing bowl: Mix together
tomato sauce, onion powder, parsley, oregano, and water. Add to skillet along with uncooked pasta.
Bring to boil, sitrring occasionally.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until pasta is tender.
Combine cottage and Parmesan cheeses.
Mix in egg.
Sprinkle in basil and pepper to taste.
Drop cheese mixture by rounded tablespoons onto pasta mixture.
Cover and cook for 5 additional minutes.
