Baked Apple (Lower Calorie than Apple Crisp)

Introduction

The low calorie alternative to Apple Crisp, keeping the deliciousness of baked apples. The low calorie alternative to Apple Crisp, keeping the deliciousness of baked apples.
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    10 Medium Macintosh Apples
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar
    1/2 Stick of Butter, softened
    0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
    0.5 tsp ground nutmeg
    0.5 tsp allspice

Tips

Serve over ice cream for a special treat. (ice cream calories not included in this)


Directions

First, spray with non-stick spray a 9x13 baking dish.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut apples into eights, removing seeds and cores. Layer apples into baking dish.
Pour half cup of water over apples.
Take softened butter, and spread over apples.
Put apples into oven and cook for 5 minutes (just enough for butter to melt over the top level of apples into lower level).
While apples are cooking, mix a mixing bowl mix the brown sugar and spices. Break the brown sugar up well so that it will sprinkle out over the apples.
Remove apples from oven, and sprinkle sugar/spice mixture evenly across the top.
Cook for another 35 minutes.
Turn oven heat up to 400 degrees. Cook additional 10 minutes.
