broccoli chicken a la king

Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    1 stick butter
    1/2 cup flour
    2 cups chicken broth/stock
    2 cups milk
    1.5 tsp salt
    1 tsp ground black pepper
    1 package frozen steam in bag vegetables
    (I use broccoli or mixed vegetables)
    2 cups of long grain brown rice
    2 cups roasted chicken light meat chopped or diced (I use store bought or leftovers)

Directions

Make brown rice according to package directions, and steam vegetables in microwave. While that is cooking, melt butter in sauce pot over medium heat. Once melted, add flour & whisk until smooth. Add chicken broth & whisk until thickened. Add milk and whisk every minute or so until bubbles form. Then add salt, ground black pepper, & chicken to sauce to warm through. Add your rice & your vegetables to sauce & enjoy!
